MASON CITY – A rural Mason City man and convicted felon is accused of theft.
According to a sheriff’s report, Monte Dean Neubauer, 50, was working on a car for a local woman when he refused to return it. Attempts by the vehicle’s owner and a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputy to get the car back were unsuccessful, and according to the report, “the vehicle remains hidden.”
Neubauer was arrested on February 12th and charged with felony theft in the second degree. He posted $5,000 bond and was released from jail. He will face a court date on February 22nd.
Neubauer also faces a probation revocation hearing on March 1st for habitually driving while barred.

I agree with lets make a bet the law dogs should go out there on strickers land and that other house between strickers and the doctors and take a peek, Wasnt it a few years ago when the doctor had an unexplained fire when the hired hand (a felon) lived out there and the Doc was gone? Seems a little smelly to me.
1. That fire was indeed, explained. (Electrical issues in attic, and the criminal was applauded by the doctors even after being imprisoned for saving their horses and pets.)
2. The neighboring house NEVER belonged to the man you’re mentioning; he lived 4 houses down, but nice try.
3. The two people who live in the house you’re speaking of, one of them being me, have never had any brush with the law and do not carry a criminal record of any sort. So, so smelly. But we appreciate your concern and ALMOST accurate fact-checking.;)

Uh, the felon in the article is the ranch hand for the doctors, who live to the East, not Stricker, who lives towards the West. Stricker’s ranch hands are family members. And the horses Monte takes care of are top-notch. Just clearing things up…
My intuition tells me that the officials need to get a search warrant for this idiots house/property AND the farm next to him.

Why would they search that house when the tenants who’ve lived there for the past 3 years have no criminal history of any sort? How should they be at fault for the actions of ONE of a hundred plus neighbors who live completely separate lives? There are dozens of neighboring properties, should we search those, too? I’m betting within the past ten years, a criminal of some sort has lived within a hundred house radius of you; is that a justifiable reason to come and snoop around on your property??
Maybe they need to go back to the chain gangs. Where they work off that money. Instead of sitting in jail getting 3 meals a day and watching tv.
I would hope the courts would force him to pay all the back court costs that he owes before releasing him,
