Winnebago receives Detroit Chassis Recycling Program Award

FOREST CITY, Iowa – Winnebago Industries, Inc. (NYSE:WGO), a leading U.S. manufacturer of recreation vehicles, has been named a Gold Award recipient from Detroit Chassis’ Recycling Program.

Detroit Chassis issued a recycling challenge to recognize the body builders with the highest percentage of recycled materials returned for reuse for the period July 2012 to March 2013. Items considered for the recycling challenge included Temp Seats, Engine Covers, Steering Covers, Dunnage Boxes, Yellow Mesh Covers, Blue and Yellow Caps, F59 Dash Panel Brackets Floor Panel Supports.

Winnebago Industries was one of six manufacturers to achieve the Gold award level from Detroit Chassis. To qualify for the Gold award level, the body-builder needed to achieve a recycling return rate of 80 to 100 percent. Through the Recycling Program, Detroit Chassis was able to reuse a total of 39.1 tons of steel and 26.7 tons of PVC.

“We are very proud of the recycling efforts we have had in place throughout the corporation for decades,” said Winnebago Industries’ Director of Purchasing Bill Fisher. “It is even more gratifying to take it one step further and contribute to the recycling programs of our vendor partners as well.”
