Mason City man headed to prison for possessing child porn

MASON CITY – A Mason City man was sentenced to prison Friday after being found guilty by a jury last month of possessing child pornography.

Brandon Clark Manning, 32, will serve two years in prison and pay a $625.00 fine after being found guilty on June 17th of the charge of possessing child pornography, an aggravated misdemeanor. At least 23 pieces of evidence were submitted in court. Manning owes the court $3,371.75 in fines and costs related to this case.

Mason City police said Friday that they began investigating Brandon Manning in October of 2012. They arrested him on March 22, 2013 for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. He was alleged to have possessed computer video files depicting minors engaged in prohibited sexual acts or simulation of prohibited sexual acts.

Manning is now in the Cerro Gordo County Jail awaiting transport to prison.

Manning is a convicted felon, being charged since 2012 with theft, domestic assault, unauthorized use of a credit card, and other crimes.
