Border patrol rescues disoriented illegal alien

Jacumba, Calif. –With temperatures reaching triple digits, El Centro, Calif. Border Patrol agents today rescued an undocumented Mexican national who lost his way in the mountains while making an attempt to illegally enter the United States with temperatures reaching triple digits.

Border Patrol dispatch received a call from the California Highway Patrol at approximately 8:30 a.m. regarding an illegal alien who was lost in a remote area of the mountains approximately 29 miles west of Calexico, Calif., and was requesting medical attention. Border Patrol’s Search Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) team was notified and deployed a team to the area.

After a systematic search of the area, BORSTAR agents encounter the man in distress at approximately 10:30 a.m. The 21-year-old man stated he was physically exhausted and his last drink of water was over 12 hours ago. BORSTAR agents examined the man and rendered first aid. The man declined any further medical treatment.

The man was determined to be a Mexican citizen illegally present in the U.S.and was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol station for processing and further evaluation.
