MASON CITY – Volunteer Janice Easley announced more planned improvements to the East Park band shell.

Ms. Easley described stage 3 renovation, bringing it back to its 1933 appearance.  She hopes to have that work done on July.  A handicap ramp may be added as well.

Ms. Easley described the need for a security system at the band shell and more lighting to ward of vandals.  “There’s quite a bit of that in the park,” she said.

  1. If the band shell is going to be restored to it’s former glory, the stone and concrete need to be removed from the front, and the bathrooms need to be removed from the back. The original band shell did not have those additions.

    1. they are just picking and choosing what they want to restore to ‘original’ as it suits their purposes. who cares that the acoustics in the shell are awful apparently!

      1. You are right on all accounts. An unofficial study was done by several musicians from the high school and I think a music instructor, and they all said the acoustics were terrible. But no one listened to what they had to say.
