MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man with a history of domestic abuse is in jail after being arrested Wednesday for another violent crime.
Chad Ryan Tannahill, 44, was arrested by 5 officers with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department on charges of 2nd degree kidnapping (felony D), 2nd degree criminal mischief (felony B), and domestic assault (strangulation) (aggravated misdemeanor).
According to a report, between the hours of 3:30am and 6:36am on Wednesday, March 13th, Chad Tannahill committed the crime of Criminal Mischief in the 2nd degree when he intentionally took an ice chipper to a vehicle not owned by him with the intent to deface and cause destruction to the vehicle, which was located at 15348 Wilson Ave. in Clear Lake. The damage was more than $1,000 but less than $10,000.
Also during this time frame, Tannahill is accused of placing his hands around a victim’s neck and applying pressure, impeding the normal breathing of the victim.
Furthermore, Tannahill, armed with a knife and crescent wrench, is accused of confining the victim with the intent to commit serious injury.
Tannahill is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $20,000 (kidnapping), $5,000 (criminal mischief) and no bond (domestic assault).
Tannahill has a lengthy record of domestic assaults and court cases involving women. Just this year, Tannahill escaped felony 2nd degree theft charges and pleaded guilty to fifth degree theft. He owes $2,655.21 in fines, fees and restitution.

SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

Yep- Dad is ok. Son is a tweaked up thug that needs to go bye bye.
He and his dad owned rent a dent on south federal and sold a ton of cars. Dad ownes the lot in Clear Lake and is ok. This is simply a meth problem
There’s no such thing as “simply a meth problem.” It’s his phsychological problems that lead him to meth. Not the other way around. Until he seeks help he could be off all drugs and still be an abuser.
cant blame him, must be the womens fault
I might be wrong, but isn’t this the guy that used to have the used car lot south federal. If it is, his life sure went down hill after he got involved with ????’s
Could be. He has a dealership on 4th Ave. S in CL. I won’t be buying from him anytime soon.
