AMES, Iowa – March 10, 2013; 8:30 p.m. update – Iowa Department of Transportation’s maintenance garages based in Correctionville, Denison and Ida Grove are suspending snowplow operations for the evening and will return to service at 5 a.m. Monday. High winds are creating unsafe conditions for snowplow operators; and progress cannot be made in keeping roadways open to traffic due to the drifting.
When snowplow operations are suspended, roadways quickly become blocked and travel conditions deteriorate within the service area. No travel is therefore recommended on the state highways in the vicinity of these facilities.
