Kathleen Irene Garcia, 90, of Mason City, died on Saturday, February 14,2026, at Good Shepherd Health Center with her loving family by her side. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Kathleen was born in Mason City on June 9, 1935, to Donovan and Viola Pierce. She spent most of her childhood in Fertile. Her family moved to Hanford while she was in high school and she graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1953. She spent the rest of her life in Mason City. On January 29, 1955, she married Joe Garcia and
together they had two sons. Joe died in 1977. Kathleen is survived by her son Joe, Jr. (Nancy), five grandchildren, and one great- grandson. Also surviving are her sister, Louisa Flores, brother, Donovan (Joan) Pierce, Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, her son Jason, her parents, and her siblings Dana, James, Dean, Charles, and Donna.
Kathleen kept her sense of humor through good times and bad. And she delighted in making others laugh and smile. She was a devoted and loving mother, and she loved and cherished her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Kathleen was truly young at heart, and she will be missed.
