Dennis Eugene Olson, the son of Bert and Lena Olson, was born on January 30, 1937, in Swea City, Iowa. He graduated from Algona High School with the class of 1955. Dennis was united in marriage to Phyllis Smith on June 1, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple were happily married for 67 years. Dennis enlisted into the United States Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1963. After his return from his service, Dennis farmed with Phyllis at his side.

Dennis enjoyed spending time at the feed store, UAP in Irvington and socializing with his coffee groups; McDonald’s on Saturdays and Hy-Vee during the week. In his earlier years, Dennis loved to go dancing with Phyllis. He had many farm cats that he loved taking care of and seeing every day. Most of all, Dennis loved to spend time with his family; especially his grandson.

Left to cherish Dennis’ memory are his daughter: Sherri (Jesse) Wise of Fenton, Iowa; grandson: Brandon (Shelby) Olson, of Ankeny, Iowa; and great granddaughter: Amelia Olson. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bert and Lena Olson and wife: Phyllis Olson.
