Kelly Jo (Richardson) Garza, 54, of Mason City, passed away suddenly December 14, 2025.
She was born on October 15, 1971, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of James Dean Richardson and Gail Elizabeth (Wehrheim) Glymph.
Kelly attended Mason City High School and spent her life devoted to her family, especially her grandbabies, who were truly her pride and joy. She loved each of them in her own special way, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.
Kelly found happiness in simple joys—crafting and baking with her grandbabies, making keepsakes for their parents, gardening, journaling, and cooking. She especially loved attending races with her dad and grandbabies. Butterflies held a special place in her heart, as did flowers of every kind, reflecting her vibrant and gentle spirit. Her pets were some of her most treasured companions: Freckles, Simba and Dino were loved beyond measure.
Kelly loved fiercely, always remembering your favorite things, and had a knack for giving the most meaningful gifts. She will be remembered for her compassion, her strength, her unforgettable laugh and smile, and the unwavering love she showed to those closest to her.
Kelly is survived by her daughters, Kelsey (Cody) Wendel of Mason City and Kiera Garza of Clear Lake; her beloved grandbabies, Avery, Azalea, Kailo, Chandler, and Evie; her dad, James (Jenny) Richardson and mom, Gail (Donnie) Glymph; her siblings, Gayla (Brad) Toebe and Chadd (LeeAnne) Richardson; along with nieces, nephews, extended family members and many who were blessed to call her a friend.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kenneth and Ola Mae Richardson, Melvin and Grace Wehrheim and Mary Nenninger; a cherished father figure, Michael Barney; special friend, Michael Campbell.
The family will celebrate Kelly’s life privately.
