June 24, 1980 — November 10, 2025

Joshua Dean Hinders, age 45, went to heaven on November 10, 2025, at his home after a short battle with cancer (Lynch Syndrome). Josh was born on June 24, 1980, in Iowa City to Mark and Rose Hinders. Josh lived a life marked by dedication to his love for semis, generous spirit and a deep love for his wife, daughter, family, and friends.

Josh was a skilled and hardworking diesel mechanic. He had an exceptional ability to fix anything and everything. Whether it was a complex engine or a household repair, he approached every task with determination and care. His passion for driving and repairing semis reflected not only his technical expertise but also his commitment to keeping things running smoothly–for himself and for others.

Josh found joy in his shop and at the campsite. He especially loved sitting by the camper with Kristy and the grandkids. He cherished time spent building a fire and roasting marshmallows with Lucas and Leo. He adored his only daughter Elizabeth and was so proud of the strong young woman she has become. Elizabeth will cherish the moments spent in the shop and the words “Hand me that wrench”. Josh was known for always lending a helping hand and being someone people could count on.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kristy Chambers-Hinders; his beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Hinders and friend Alex Coleman; eight stepchildren; his parents, Mark and Rose (Bock) Hinders; In-laws, Harold and Marilyn Jorgensen; brother, Cory (Bridgette) Hinders; sister, Samantha (Chad) Olesen; as well as many step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews who will remember him with loving affection.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Gloria Hinders; Richard and Wilma (Renae) Bock; Norma Bock; uncles, Pat and Charles Bock; cousin, Dustin Hinders.

His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched with kindness, skillful hands and unwavering willingness to serve others. May his memory bring comfort to all those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sacred Heart Social Hall in Osage, Iowa on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
