MASON CITY – Groups of breastfeeding women and supporters will come together at Prairie Playground in Mason City to help kick off World Breastfeeding Week.
The occasion is called the Big Latch On Event. This event is held around the world each August to try to break records in the number of babies breastfeeding at one time. Breastfeeding mothers will latch on their child for one minute while being counted by witnesses.
The event is held to help raise awareness of breastfeeding support and knowledge available in communities; to help communities positively support breastfeeding in public places; to make breastfeeding a normal part of the day-to-day life at a local community level and to increase support for women who breastfeed.
This event is sponsored by NI Connect Mom 2 Mom, Mind, Body, Babies, Natural Nourishing Lactation Services and the North Iowa Chapter of Breastfeeding USA. There is more information available at www.facebook.com/ BreastfeedingUsaNorthIowaChapt er.
We are a planet among trillions of possible planets with life. Suppose a few showed up to check us out. Yeh, I’d feel like an idiot too. WTF. Is this the best we can do? I think society should pass and instead display a little intelligence, just in case.
Great to see
