WARREN COUNTY, IOWA – A woman riding in the backseat of a Jeep while traveling through Iowa on Interstate 35 made a decision to leap from the vehicle, and the outcome was just as one might imagine.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the incident took place on June 15, 2025, in Warren county. At 11:10 AM that morning, near mile marker 43 in Interstate 35, 59-year-old Asha Samuel of Chaska, Minnesota, was driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound at 70 miles per hour. A passenger in the backseat, 55-year-old Poonam Salsbury of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, opened the door of the vehicle and “exited” the vehicle.

As a result of the decision, Salsbury was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Warren county medical examiner.
