GRUNDY COUNTY – Two suspects allegedly attempted to burglarize a Northern Iowa junkyard, but alert employees help cops foil the crime as it unfolded.
On April 28, 2025, at approximately 2:00 AM, Grundy County Sheriff’s Office received calls about a burglary in progress at Eiklenborg Salvage yard South of Aplington in Grundy County. The sheriff’s office responded to the area. The suspect had fled the scene and with the help of employees of the salvage yard the sheriff’s office was able to stop the suspect vehicle.
As a result of the traffic stop, the sheriff’s office arrested two individuals: Daniel Nelson McNelly (61) of Waterloo, Iowa, and Anthony Charles Neuroth (48) of Kamrar, Iowa. Both McNelly and Neuroth are being held in the Grundy County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 dollar bond.
Both suspects in this case are being charged with:
– Burglary 3rd, Class D Felony.
– Possession of burglar tools, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Neuroth is also being held for a no bond probation violation warrant out of Hamilton County.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Parkersburg Police Department and employees of Eiklenborg Salvage yard.
