DES MOINES — After Kim Reynolds leveled threats against this Northern Iowa sheriff for demanding Constitutional treatment of migrants, Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird announced she is joining the fight.

On Wednesday, Kim Reynolds sent a threatening letter to elected officials in Winneshiek County after Sheriff Dan Marx warned federal storm troopers hunting illegal aliens that they better comply with the Constitution while they scour the countryside for these human beings. One of Reynolds’ threats was to tattle on him to her pal, Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird.

Almost immediately, Reynolds did sed the Iowa Attorney General’s office an official complaint against Winneshiek County over the Sheriff Dan Marx’s statements indicating how his department will deal with detainer requestd from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird (pictured at top, far right) issued the following statement in response:

“Iowa law is clear: counties and cities must comply with Iowa Code Chapter 27A, which specifically requires law enforcement to comply with ICE detainers or risk loss of state funding. We have received the Governor’s complaint against Winneshiek County and have opened an investigation.”
