CHARLES CITY – This fugitive of justice had been wanted on a drug charge for over four months, and the long arm of the law finally caught up with her while she enjoyed a cold one behind the wheel.

Back on the evening of October 26, 2023, the Charles City police department conducted a search warrant in the 400 block of Richings Street. As a result of the home raid, cops nabbed Rylee Lynn Penera, now age 22, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The also arrested Desmond Jackson for possession of marijuana.

Penera’s case has slogged through the court system ever since, records show, with at least five trial dates being set since this arrest. Most recently, a judge issued a bench warrant for Penera’s arrest back on September 20. 2024, and she has been absent ever since.

However, cops have been on the lookout and finally snared this wanted suspect. On the evening of January 23, 2025, officers with the Charles City police department assisted the Floyd county sheriff’s office with a traffic stop on the Avenue of the Saints. An investigation at the traffic stop showed that Penera was cruising around with an open container of booze, and she was cited for the crime. She later entered a guilty plea and it cost her $354.00 to the Iowa courts.

Penera (pictured at top) was arrested on the drug charge warrant and taken to the Floyd county jail, where she remains in custody on $500.00 cash-only bond.
