A funeral service for Craig will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burt. Burial will be held in St. Luke’s Lutheran Cemetery in Fairville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona.

Craig Lewis Steven was born on July 12, 1952 to Everett Leonard Steven and Doris Alberta (Genrich) Steven at St. Ann’s Hospital in Algona, Iowa.

Craig attended Algona High School before going to Iowa Lakes Community College to obtain his GED, Auto Parts and Auto Mechanic Certifications.

Craig was united in marriage to Debra (Bolte) on January 16, 1976. They lived in rural Cylinder prior to moving to Burt and finally residing in Lakota, IA. They welcomed two children Doris in 1985, and Mary in 1989. Craig worked for Ley Motors in Lakota before working for a local redimix company where he drove truck until his retirement.

Craig died Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at his home. He was 72.

Craig is survived by his wife, Debra of Lakota; daughters, Doris (Michael) Blocker of Fenton, IA, Mary Steven of Lakota, IA and her friend Jacob Hatfield, grandchildren, Jordan and Caelum Blocker (Fenton), Zackery Steven (Lakota); sister, Anne Kiess (Algona); brothers-in-law, George (Sheryl) Bolte (Wooldridge, MO), David (Janet) Bolte (Cylinder), Gary Bolte (Cylinder), and sisters-in-law, Patricia Darnell (Fenton) and Diane Steven (Rockledge, FL); along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett & Doris Steven; brother, Richard Steven; parents-in-law, Delond & Beverly Bolte; brothers-in-law, Paul Darnell and Robert Kiess and grandson, Matthew Steven.
