Northern Iowa man caught burglarizing Clear Lake home

CLEAR LAKE - A home alarm system alerted police to a Clear Lake burglary in progress, and a suspect from Klemme was nabbed red-handed.

CLEAR LAKE – A home alarm system alerted police to a Clear Lake burglary in progress, and a suspect from Klemme was nabbed red-handed.

On December 20, 2024, around 4:00 AM, the Clear Lake Police Department responded to a residential burglary alarm in the 100 block of 5th Ave N. Officers located 29-year-old Gabriel Craighton of Klemme, Iowa, inside the residence. Craighton was found to have forced entry into the residence. No one was home at the time of the incident.

Craighton (pictured at top) was arrested without incident and has been charged with:

– Third-degree Burglary, a Class D Felony

– Third-degree Criminal Mischief, an Aggravated Misdemeanor

Craighton is currently being held on bond at the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation and no further information was released at this time.

The Clear Lake Police Department was assisted by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.
