CHARLES CITY – A barred Nashua driver tooling around Charles City discovered that justice was just around the corner after police stopped him – but the suspect didn’t go quietly.

Charles City police attempted to stop a driver on November 30, 2024. At 9:20 PM that evening, officers located barred driver Robert Earl Brandhorst, age 57 of Nashua. However, he apparently attempted to elude the traffic stop. Police finally conducted the traffic stop on the 900 block of South Main Street. The driver, Brandhorst, then apparently interfered with the officers, causing bodily injury, before he was subdued and arrested on the following charges:

– DRIVING WHILE BARRED (AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOR)

– INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS – BODILY INJURY (SERIOUS MISDEMEANOR)

– ELUDING (SERIOUS MISDEMEANOR)

– THEFT 2ND DEGREE (CLASS D FELONY) (offense date of November 20, 2024)

Brandhorst, who has been accused multiple times of domestic abuse assault and drug offenses, was jailed but soon released. He was appointed a public defender as he awaits a December 20, 2024 hearing.
