Arizona man cornered by Iowa deputy unleashes vicious pit bull attack upon officer

FREMONT COUNTY – A bald, heavily-tatted Arizona man toting meth was cornered by an Iowa deputy but the suspect unleashed his vicious, blood-thirsty pit bulls upon the brave officer, who suffered serious injuries.

Fremont County Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reported that on July 29, 2024, at approximately 3:30 PM, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle being chased by the owner, on Highway 275 near Hamburg, Iowa.

Deputies responded to the area and observed the vehicle, a silver 2004 Chevrolet Suburban northbound in the 2600 block of Highway 275. Deputies were able to stop the vehicle and a felony traffic stop was conducted. The driver, 50-year-old Troy Decker (pictured at top) of Kingman, Arizona, exited the vehicle. Two pit bulls also exited the vehicle and attacked a Fremont County Deputy causing severe injuries. The dogs were secured and Decker was placed under arrest without further incident.

The Fremont County Deputy, was transported to a local hospital by Sidney Rescue. The deputy was later released and is recovering at home.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Nebraska City, Nebraska. The license plates on the vehicle were found to be stolen out of Clarinda, Iowa.

Decker was charged with Theft 2nd, possession of Methamphetamine, and two counts of a possessing a dangerous animal. He is being held at the Fremont County Jail on $6,000 cash only bond. More charges are pending.

The dogs are being held at a local veterinary clinic pending infectious disease results.
