Each year, children are injured by hazards in and around the home. However, these risks can be greatly reduced by simply installing child safety devices.

Some of the safety devices on the market include:

Safety latches and locks for cabinets and drawers in kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas to help prevent poisoning and other injuries.
Outlet covers and outlet plates to help prevent electrocution.
Window guards and safety netting to help prevent falls from windows, balconies, decks, and landings.

Anchor Your Furniture and Appliances

Childproofing your home doesn’t stop at safety latches and locks. Another important measure is to anchor unsecured TVs, furniture, and appliances to the walls or floors.

The sad reality is that 94% of reported tip-over fatalities occurred inside the home and that’s why we created the Anchor It! campaign.

Anchor It! is a national public education campaign to prevent furniture and TV tip-overs from killing and seriously injuring children.

Deaths and injuries occur when children climb onto, fall against, or pull themselves up on television stands, shelves, bookcases, dressers, desks, chests, and ranges.

Ways to prevent a tip-over tragedy include:

Use sturdy furniture
Secure your TV
Mount flat screen TVs
Remove tempting objects
