CEDAR RAPIDS – An Iowa drug user who dealt illegal guns to his associates who used the firearms in violent acts was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison.

According to public court documents and evidence presented at sentencing, Kiante Demarr Hough Green (pictured at top), 23, of Iowa City, purchased numerous firearms which he provided to individuals he knew to be prohibited from possessing firearms, and which were then used in the commission of violence. At the time of Green’s firearm purchases and during his possession of firearms, he was an unlawful user of controlled substances, and engaged in the distribution of marijuana.

After completing his term of imprisonment, Green will be required to serve 3 years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement. This case was investigated by the Iowa City Police Department.
