Marian Jensson, age 95 went quietly to her heavenly home with family near on May 8, 2024.

Marian was born July 14, 1928 in Lanesboro, Fillmore County, Minnesota, to Theodore H. “Ted” and Estelle (Wead) Opem. She grew up in Lanesboro attending Lanesboro Public Schools from all day kindergarten thru high school, graduating in 1946.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On April 3, 1949 she married classmate and love of her life, Gordon H. Jensson. Three children made their family complete; Kathryn Jean, Philip Gordon and Paul Alan.

Marian wore many different hats over the years, but the one closest to her heart was that of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was best known by Riceville graduates as Marian the librarian at the elementary and public library. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and crosswords along with church groups and friends.

Marian is survived by her beloved husband Gordon of 75 years, children: Kathryn Tesmer, Philip (Karla) Jensson and Paul (Susan) Jensson, 10 grandchildren and spouses, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Estelle Opem, mother and father in-law Ole and Clara Jensson, sister Idella Conwell, brother Lowell (Barb) Opem, son in-law Jerry Tesmer and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 17, 2024 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday morning at the church. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in rural Riceville. Lindstrom Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
