CLIVE – Police say a large group of law-breaking teens invaded a suburban Des Moines park, drinking booze, jamming to tunes, shooting off fireworks, jumping off a bridge, tempting cops to take action.

Over the weekend, patrol officers with the Clive police department were called to Campbell Park on the report of loud noise and music. Officers discovered a large group of juveniles who were bridge-jumping, shooting fireworks, and drinking. As we have stated before, bridge jumping is not only against city code but is very dangerous, especially when the water condition is not known and it is dark out.

Officers were able to cite several of the offenders on the scene but rest assured, we will be out in force this weekend. No warnings will be given, but citations with $630.00 fines will be, for those caught trespassing and breaking the park curfew.

“We’re not lecturing, but we are telling you what happened and how we will respond,” police warned. “The bottom line is don’t be in the park after hours.”

It was just months ago that a neighborhood park in Clive was torched by nasty vandals, possibly teens, causing $150,000 in damages.
