Worth county man fined thousands after years of burning junk, riling neighbors

Duane Tesch has been dumping and burning junk at least since the 1990's, according to the Iowa DNR, riling his neighbors and souring the soil, air and probably our water.

GRAFTON – A Carpenter man who burned tires, a mattress, a speaker, shingles and numerous other junk items over the years, forcing his neighbors to endure stench, has been fined by the Iowa DNR.

Duane Tesch has been dumping and burning junk at least since the 1990’s, according to the Iowa DNR, riling his neighbors and souring the soil, air and probably our water. In his latest adventure, Tesch was burning junk in Grafton after the town applied pressure on him to clean up his property. The burn was investigated by a Worth county deputy and referred to the Iowa DNR as neighbors were subjected to a strong chemical smell.

After all the red tape was processed, Tesch was finally fined $2,500 and ordered to cease and desist. Read the details of his case, below.
