Two women hurt in Northern Iowa auto collision

DICKINSON COUNTY, IOWA - Two women were hurt and taken to hospitals in an auto accident Monday evening in Dickinson county.

DICKINSON COUNTY, IOWA – Two women were hurt and taken to hospitals in an auto accident Monday evening in Dickinson county.

The Dickinson county sheriff’s office investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 9 west of Spirit Lake that was reported at about 5:30 PM on January 22, 2024. Dee Dee McCoy age 73 of Spirit Lake, was driving a 2008 Subaru Forester westbound on Highway 9 and making a left turn at the Indian Hills driveway access when she was struck from behind by a 2019 Ford F-150 driven by Cassidy Matson, age 51 of Rock Rapids. The F-150 is registered to Fusion Pros LLC of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.

Both drivers were treated on scene and transported by private vehicle to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Both vehicles were totaled in the accident.

The Dickinson county sheriff’s office thanked the following for their assistance on scene: Spirit Lake First Responders, LRH Ambulance, Jennings tow service, and several passersby that stopped to help.
