Frederick L. Varner, 48 of Kensett passed away suddenly Sunday, January 21, 2024 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held starting at 4:00pm, Saturday January 27, 2024 at the Carpenter Community Center, 105 E Street, Carpenter, IA 50426.
Memorials may be directed in care of his family.
Frederick “Fred” Lee Varner was born January 14, 1976 in Mason City, the son of Frederick E. and Debbie A. (Prince) Varner. Growing up in the area, Fred graduated from Northwood High School in 1994. On September 16, 2000 he married Sue L. Luther and the couple was blessed with three sons: Trevor, Gavin and Brandon. For the past 15 years, Fred worked as a mechanic at Cemstone.
Fred was a lively soul who thrived on outdoor adventures like hunting and fishing. A master of the grill, Fred loved treating everyone to his delicious BBQ creations. Camping in North Iowa was a favorite pastime, creating lasting memories with family and friends. A skilled pool player and a constant joker, Fred’s humor was infectious. He enjoyed spending the weekend cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Iowa Hawkeyes. Most of all, Fred’s heart belonged to his cherished family—his devoted wife, adored sons, and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter. In every laugh, every outdoor escapade, and every moment spent with loved ones, Fred’s vibrant spirit continues to resonate, leaving an indelible mark on those lucky enough to have shared in his zest for life.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Sue; sons, Trevor (fiancée, Leah Nelson) of Fertile, Gavin (Jenna Petersen) of Grafton, and Brandon (Bella Efflandt) of Kensett; his mother, Debbie (Larry Albright) Varner; granddaughter, Ivory; siblings, Jami Trappe, Danny Varner and Matt Varner; niece and nephews, Devin, Conner and Braydan; as well as many extended relatives and countless friends.
Preceding Fred in death are his father, Frederick; maternal and paternal grandparents; an uncle, Steve Prince and a cousin, Tony Hitchcock.
