CHARLES CITY – Cold weather and furnaces running at peak levels may produce a carbon monoxide hazard, as one home in Charles City found out Monday evening.

At about 6:00 PM Monday evening, the Charles City fire department was dispatched to a home on N. Iowa Avenue for suspected carbon monoxide exposure symptoms. On arrival crews were able to clear the home with use of a gas monitor. The residence was equipped with a functioning carbon monoxide detector.

Charles City fire department warned that “Carbon Monoxide is a colorless and odorless has known as a silent killer. Remember to check your monitors and ensure they are still in good working order.”

AMR assisted on scene to ensure everyone in the home was ok.
