NORTHWOOD – Worth County Sheriff Dan Fank announced today that he will not seek re-election to office.

According to a statement from Sheriff Fank’s campaign:

Starting my 25th year here at the Worth County Sheriff’s Office, I have made the difficult decision that I will not be seeking re-election in 2024 and will be retiring from law enforcement in January 2025, for a total of 31 years in law enforcement at the end. I want to thank everyone for the support and the great memories that I have had. I have been honored and humbled to have served the citizens of Worth County, and I am proud to have been the Worth County Sheriff. I wish the best of luck to whomever wins the election to become the next sheriff and offer my assistance to make a smooth transfer of leadership.

Thank you all for the support
Sheriff Dan Fank

Back in 2016, former Worth county deputy Dan Fank easily defeated incumbent sheriff Jay Langenbau, 2,994 votes to 1,028 votes. Langenbau had sought his third term as sheriff.
