WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., issued the following statement calling on Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from any cases related to the January 6th investigation and, if former President Donald Trump runs again, the 2024 election:
“In light of new reporting from numerous outlets, Justice Thomas’ conduct on the Supreme Court looks increasingly corrupt.
“Judges are obligated to recuse themselves when their participation in a case would create even the appearance of a conflict of interest. A person with an ounce of commonsense could see that bar is met here.
“Justice Thomas participated in cases related to Donald Trump’s efforts to rig and then overturn the 2020 election, while his wife was pushing to do the same. He was the lone dissent in a case that could have denied the January 6th Committee records pertaining to the same plot his wife supported.
“At the bare minimum, Justice Thomas needs to recuse himself from any case related to the January 6th investigation, and should Donald Trump run again, any case related to the 2024 election.”
Thomas has made the news for two bad reasons lately.
First, Clarence Thomas was hospitalized until this morning with a mystery infection that the Supreme Court was mostly silent about. The hospitalization comes as his name splashes across headlines for possibly corrupt behavior within his own household.
Second, Thomas’s wife “Ginni” – who took part in the events of January 6, 2021 – is rapidly being exposed as an extreme partisan hack who possibly played a key role in attempts to overthrow the U.S. government and interfere with the 2020 election results. She sent whacko text messages to a shady Trump official, Mark Meadows, imploring him to take the election results to the Supreme Court – where her husband is a Justice. In an 8-1 Supreme Court decision against Donald Trump’s attempt to hide his documents, Clarence Thomas was the lone vote in Trump’s favor. Mark Meadows filed a supporting brief in that case. Among Ginni Thomas’ texts sent to Meadows were all-timers that would make any Q-anon nutcase chuckle, like, “Biden crime family & ballot fraud co-conspirators (elected officials, bureaucrats, social media censorship mongers, fake stream media reporters, etc) are being arrested & detained for ballot fraud right now & over coming days, & will be living in barges off GITMO to face military tribunals for sedition.” She also texted, “Sounds like Sidney and her team are getting inundated with evidence of fraud. Make a plan. Release the Kraken and save us from the left taking America down.” Reportedly, more texts may soon be coming out.
