MASON CITY – Mason City Arena will host “America’s Night Out Against Crime” on August 3.

Tuesday, August 3, 2021, marks the 38th Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event. Starting at 5:00 p.m. residents are encouraged to show solidarity by turning on porch lights and head to the Mason City Arena at 111 S Washington Ave. for the free, fun-packed “family affair”.

A variety of activities will be held including a kid power pedal tractor pull event, bounce houses and Spin Art & balloon creations by Today’s Your Day as well as displays and demonstrations presented by local community organizations and youth oriented programs. Free food will be served and there will be a drawing for prizes. This is a night for America to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. Join us in spending the evening “Giving Crime & Drugs a Going Away Party”.

This event is sponsored in conjunction with the National Association of Town Watch, and locally by the Mason City Community Policing Advisory Board along with the Mason City Police Department.

  1. O I thought Mason City the past 2 years was having a new and improved crime night in with all the shootings and all the meth addicts runnings stealing shit.

Drive around up town and north end some night late at night. It’s a sight to see.

Mason City”s finest out and about

  2. Oh for sure, you just turn on your porch lights and leave your house dark for hours. Sounds like a GREAT idea, at least to numbskulls. If you do this you’re telling those with criminal intent that your house is uninhabited so come break in since we aren’t home!

  3. Leaders making narrow minded decisions without much thought given to foresight are bound to fail. Those higher up in state government that do not attend this function fail again. It is sad that something such as what this gathering is about has to be taking place at all. Economically failing to provide the resources needed to prevent such destruction to take place. More likely a mismanagement of funds from these greedy losers. Covid money was instantly labeled cookie jar status funds. One example of mismanagement from leaders who lack resolve to change old outdate notion they know best. If your a politician and not at this event your a sad sack of shit.

    1. hopefully while the libs are there getting free stuff, their liberal friends are at their houses helping themselves.
