Iowa authorities investigating death of man by gunshot in Franklin county

HAMTPON, IOWA – Iowa authorities are investigating the death of a man by gunshot in Franklin county.

On December 14, 2020, at 4:30 PM, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the 400 block of 120th Street in rural Dows, Iowa. The caller advised that a male subject had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found a deceased male in the residence. Deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation were assisted on scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Hampton Police and medical personnel from Franklin General Ambulance Service and West Franklin EMS.

The Franklin County Medical Examiner made arrangements for the deceased to be taken to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for an autopsy. The release of the name of the deceased is pending the State Medical Examiner’s report and notification of family.

This investigation is ongoing, Sheriff Aaron Dodd says.

  1. Gee, will the sheriff have time to investigate? He has no interest in looking into most things in Franklin County, like missing people right under his nose.

      1. It wasn’t my job. It WAS HIS job, which he doesn’t seem to want to do. Likes the paycheck, doesn’t like the work.
