DES MOINES – A former Waterloo doctor has medical license suspended, faces criminal charges after alleged car chase with police.

Nicholas J. Kuiper, D.O., a 41-year-old Iowa-licensed physician who formerly practiced general surgery in Grinnell, Waterloo, and Carroll, Iowa, entered into a Stipulated Order – Agreement Not to Practice with the Board on March 12, 2020. The Board alleged that Dr. Kuiper violated appropriate professional boundaries in violation of the laws and rules governing the practice of medicine in Iowa. Additionally, Dr. Kuiper was arrested on Friday November 15, 2019, and charged with second-degree criminal mischief, operating while intoxicated, and eluding. Under the terms of the March 12, 2020, Stipulated Order – Agreement Not to Practice, Dr. Kuiper agreed that he shall not engage in any aspect of the practice of medicine under his Iowa medical license until the Board has entered a final decision in this case.
