AMES – Iowa put a screeching halt to recent bad history in Ames, pummeling Iowa State 84-68 in a game that was never close.

Iowa snapped Iowa State’s eight-game win streak over the Hawkeyes in Hilton Coliseum. Tonight’s win is Iowa’s first over the Cyclones in Ames since March 21, 2003.

Five Hawkeyes scored in double figures in the game: Luka Garza (21), Joe Wieskamp (13), Jordan Bohannon (12), Connor McCaffery (12), and CJ Fredrick (11).

Luka Garza posted his sixth double-double of the season – second straight — and 12th of his career (21 points and 11 rebounds). Garza topped 20 points for the seventh time this season and 19th time in his career.

Iowa made 10 3-pointers by six different players.

Tonight was Iowa’s third win away from Iowa City, including its second true road victory (Syracuse, Iowa State).

Iowa returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 21, against Cincinnati in the Chicago Legends in Chicago.
