RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A teen died in a four-vehicle accident Saturday evening in rural Cerro Gordo county.
The accident took place at 5:13 PM at the intersection of Highway 65 and county road B15. At the scene, four cars looked to have been involved. Three remained on Highway 65 and one in the ditch with paramedics working on a person while waiting for AirMed. Debris was all over the scene and there was a vehicle door sitting beside the stop sign.
The Iowa State Patrol says the cause and circumstances of the collision are still under investigation. The driver of a 2002 Monte Carlo, 16-year-old Kolton Young, died in the crash. Four other persons were hurt: 56-year-old George Baker (driver of a 2001 GMC Jimmy involved in the crash), 43-year-old Dan Waters (driver of a 2016 Chevy Trax involved in the crash), 49-year-old Michelle Waters, and 15-year-old Trenton Jenson. A fourth vehicle involved was not described.
Iowa State Patrol, Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Fire, Manly Fire, Forest City Ambulance, and Mercy One Airmed assisted at the scene.
Why has the identity of the fourth driver never been released?
I miss Kolton so much. He was the best. Miss you bro
This was a GOOD boy. His mother and father are wonderful people who love helping the community and children. A horrible tragedy all around.
This statement is 100 percent true
WoW, just WoW, It looks like the Trax was rear ended and pushed into the vehicle in front of it. What a shame.
very sad, prayers for everyone
