To the Editor:

Elderbridge Agency on Aging wants to thank the Mason City community for all the support we have been given in the wake of the roof issues at Mohawk Square.

We wish to express our gratitude to the Determan family and Tim Hitchcock, the Building Manager, in particular. They have worked with Elderbridge over decades, maintaining the building immaculately and accommodating the needs of a changing Agency. After the roof collapse, they have worked to keep employees and tenants safe while allowing as much access to the building as possible to retrieve materials/equipment.

Once displaced, we have received tremendous assistance from other organizations. County Social Services allowed our LifeLong Links staff to move into their office building so that our clients could continue to be served with no interruption. Community Kitchen of North Iowa agreed to host our sponsored SHIIP counselors, and the Mason City Senior Activity Center opened its doors to the rest of the staff.

As we move in increments, I would also like to thank Nathaniel Dodge of Dodge Diversified, for helping at the last minute to move essential business files; the three young MCHS wrestlers who helped us move equipment and furniture out of the building, and to Dr. Jay Lala for allowing us storage space.

Mason City is an example of “Iowa Nice.” Elderbridge Agency on Aging-Mason City Office continues to fulfill its mission to advocate for and empower older adults, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities to pursue independent healthy lives at our new location, 1190 Briarstone Drive. Our phone number remains the same, 641-424-0678 or 800-243-0678.

Gratefully,

Mason City Office Staff
