NIACC women edge Grand View JV, 3-2

MASON CITY – Still perfect.

The NIACC women’s soccer team moved its record to 3-0 with a 3-2 victory over the Grand View Junior Varsity Sunday afternoon at the NIACC pitch.

Freshman Emma Eden scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner with 4 minutes, 51 seconds left in the second half to lift the Lady Trojans to the nonconference victory. Freshman Lena Oliver assisted on both of Eden’s goals.

Freshman Riley Smith scored NIACC’s first goal with 31:24 left in the first half of the Lady Trojans’ first home soccer match since 2004. Freshman Jessica Altman assisted on Smith’s goal.

NIACC led 2-1 at the half only to see the Grand View JV tie the contest with 27:48 left in the second half, but 23 minutes later Eden scored her second goal to lift the Lady Trojans to the win.

NIACC hosts Iowa Lakes in its ICCAC opener on at 4 p.m. in the second game of a men/women doubleheader.
