Charles City man arrested after fight

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man was recently arrested after a fight near some low-income apartments in town.

On August 8, 2017, officers with the Charles City police department were called to the 2100 block of Clarkview Drive, near the Morningside Apartments which offer subsidized housing, for a fight occurring. As a result of an investigation, officers arrested 22-year-old Jacquan Matthews, age 22 of Charles City, for interference with official acts.

Matthews was jailed and appointed a public defender before being released. He is now scheduled for a non-jury trial on September 20, 2017.

Earlier in July, Matthews was arrested and quickly pled guilty to a charge of criminal mischief.
