Medicare experiments with 'bundled' paymentsDES MOINES – Iowa Democratic Party Chair Dr. Andy McGuire issued the following statement on the transition to the Branstad-Reynolds administration’s Medicaid privatization plan, which starts tomorrow:

“It is deeply troubling that as the health care of 560,000 Iowans transitions to the Branstad-Reynolds administration’s rushed and reckless privatization plan, far too many Iowans remain without the answers they deserve.

“Despite the wide range of concerns brought by patients, advocates, caregivers and health care professionals over the past year, the Governor, Lt. Governor and Republican legislators have simply refused to listen or take action. Just yesterday, Republicans once again blocked efforts by Democrats to provide the new Medicaid program with the additional oversight it needs.

“As the transition proceeds, Democrats will continue to do everything we can to protect the health care of all Iowans and ensure no one gets left behind in this rush to privatization.”
