At the core of Liberalism is the spoiled child-Miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, Ill Disciplined, despotic, and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats.
When attempting to attract investment in a community, one normally ‘puts his best foot forward’. That is not the case in Mason City. When putting on a ‘Dog & Pony Show’ I can assume that they stage scenes clean and well kept in photos and videos.
Yet when a visitor actually comes to Mason City, they will get a dose of reality. All anyone needs to do is take a drive through the Downtown and see instead of spit and polish, lack of upkeep, and downright disrepair. The back of buildings falling apart, weeds almost everywhere, and a lack of basic maintenance. That really says more about Mason City than anything else.
I went further than that. I noted the biggest offenders of neglect, and drove past their personal residences. It is no surprise, they were well maintained.
Look past the murals, (which is as you have recently read in the local paper, are and I quote, “critical” by some artist). More than fancy light fixtures. More than faux cobblestone sidewalks and crossings. Those are only “lipstick on a pig” as so to speak.
I even noted in my drives that it is not only commercial property owners that are careless. City lots, medians, and parking lots are left wanting for attention. Yes, this includes our parks.
And of course, many private properties look shabby, weed choked and in some cases, are an eyesore. That begs the question, why does not the City enforce it’s own laws regarding blight.
Before I go further, not all business’ ignore how their property looks, Indeed, quite a few take the time and money to make sure their property looks good. In other words, they care. Same goes for a LOT of private residences. And those properties stand out, you can tell the owners care.
If I can see the neglect, surely any one visiting our City with the idea of investing in our community will also see the same.

is there somewhere you can report a Dr for getting carried away on doing tests on ya. I go to the dr and he says you need these tests, so ya have them and then of course gotta go back to him to get results which leads to another test and then back to him and so on. Mercy has pushed their drs to refer refer refer, test test test test more money more money more money. Its got to stop somewhere, its no wonder insurance is so high priced. Lots and lots of wasted money. sure I can see the tests if you think you have something wrong with you but to be just doing them is a waste. needs to be a department or agency that makes drs justify the tests they want to do

39 Million dollar MC mistake will cost the town population. Many older citizens that see the huge tax hike writing on the wall are moving since this hotel is approved. This ‘project’ spearheaded by MC Hockey will be the final blow to MC after tax revenue levels required by this new area will never be reached. This entire proposal was NOT what MC voted for, this is a typical bait and switch. SAD DAY FOR MC. Look at out town roads/look at our town vacancies, but MC Hockey got their pretty arena.
