went up town and placed a tarp on the parking in front of Mohawk Square so that my family and kids could watch the parade Saturday. Well Tuesday the tarp was gone, I was told the maintenance man at the Mohawk Square had ripped them all up and threw them away. He then put up yellow barrier tape. I wonder If he knows he committed theft. That parking actually belongs to the city, not the square. City code specifies that the land between the sidewalk and the curb is city property, so by taking someone elses property he committed theft. I think all those that had their tarps taken should get together and have a meeting and invite a police officer and all make complaints and each person charge him with 5th degree theft. theft is defined as ” take possession or control of property of another with the intent to deprive thereof” he took control when he took them and he had the intent to deprive when he threw them away. Determans who own the property should look into this and maybe punish their employee for doing so. He must be a real asshole. enough said, amen

Director of Development Services Van Steenhuyse said this week no bid-off is required.

A new Amended and Restated Development Agreement between Mason City and the Mason City Foundation.
The foundation decided building a new museum adjacent to G8’s hotel would be “less efficient and less desirable than keeping the collection in its current location.”
The new plan means the foundation would purchase the building south of the current Music Man Square building, where they plan to build the ballroom/convention center.
The lack of a museum means the downtown hotel will be moved further north in the Southbridge Mall parking lot.
OK JUST WHAT DID PEOPLE VOTE ‘YES’ FOR, ANOTHER HOTEL OR A HOCKEY ARENA? WHAT A JOKE!!
I used to be a Democrat until it suddenly dawned on me how lazy and inept liberals and most democrats are. Not to mention hypocrites. The local Democrats in office especially Sharon Steckman are elitists. They pander to the teacher union and pontificate helping the poor. She eats at the fanciest restaurants, travels the globe, takes expensive trips. Yes, she is an elitist feasting on the hopes of the poor but delivers nothing. As a freshman at Mason City High School I can honestly say that the 14 & 15 year old students I interact with everyday are by far more mature then you are.

Last night I heard a story going around about one of Clear Lake’s most despicable and lowest class men. I was associated with a past public employer of this man who is (was) an employee of the Clear Lake Sewer District. He was caught red-handed by a former employer who offered him a “resign or face charges” deal. His wife had turned him in for absconding with numerous items after she discovered him fornicating with one of that employer’s staff. what was he caught doing this time? NO MORE PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT, THE TAXPAYERS DESERVE BETTER.
In an age of public employment transparency, if Matt doesn’t do anything with this story, we may want to go to the Des Moines Register. The Sheriff’s dept was at the last Board meeting my friend told me; call and get a report from Mr. Pals.
Coincidentally, his house was just listed for sale last week. Oh, and everyone in Clear Lake hates this man.
Why are our streets so bad? Go into LDs and look at some of the pictures on the wall. None of them have cracks, potholes or anything. Cant tell me its from the weather cause they had winters back then just like we do now.

Word is going around town the the Sheriff’s office was in attendance at the Clear Lake Sanitary District Board Meeting and that one of the employees quit in a scandal. This person’s home is now reported to be listed for sale in Clear Lake. Board members are evasive on the matter. Call Gary Hugi and Tony Nelson from Clear Lake as they are on the board.
