COMMUNITY POLICING ADVISORY BOARD TO SPONSOR A FREE SPECIAL WOMEN’S SELF-DEFENSE SEMINAR
The Mason City Community Policing Advisory Board has announced plans for a free Women’s Self-Defense Seminar event scheduled from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 27th, at the Willowbrook Mall, 1631 4th St. SW, Mason City, IA. Melissa Lopez will present an educational seminar. This seminar will include tips and techniques to help keep you out of danger, and easy techniques to employ if you get into harm’s way. The Community Policing Advisory Board’s goal is to help promote a safer community. Education is one of the keys for keeping citizens safe. Appropriate for ages 13 and up. There will be refreshments and gifts.
The event is co-sponsored with the Mason City Police Dept.

Jeffrey Alan Stewart: Securities Fraud Charges
Former Farmer’s Insurance Agent in Mason City, District manager for Farmer’s Insurance in Iowa City, has been charged with 3x accounts of securities fraud and multiple forgeries.
According to Iowa City Press-Citizen , Stewart allegedly lied to clients about how he was investing their money and was moving client’s investments without their knowledge or consent.
In February 2012, Stewart allegedly posed as a victim and requested a $30,000 disbursement from the client’s accounts. In a separate incident, he is accused of requesting $24,000 from a victim’s brokerage accounts and forging the victim’s signatures on the checks.
When brokers deliberately deceive clients and commit forgery/fraud they are likely in violation of several securities laws and FINRA regulations. If proven, the broker and the brokerage firm can be liable for investment losses.
According to BrokerCheck Stewart has worked for a number of broker dealers. He worked for Investors Brokerage Services from 08/2000-09/2000, Farmers Financial Solutions from 09/2000-08/2008, U.S. Bancorp Investments 08/2008 – 07/2009, Valic Financial 07/2009 – 05/2011.
