MASON CITY – Police were called to the Eleven Lounge Monday to investigate a burglary.

The call to police was made at about 12:33 PM Monday. An officer arrived and took a burglary report. Owner George Barlas told NIT later Monday evening that “Whoever it was broke my back door – nothing stolen. Used a crowbar.”

According to Mason City police, “an attempted burglary was reported to Chop (Eleven) on Sept. 7 at 12:23 pm. Forced entry was attempted on an exterior door. It does not appear that entry was gained. The business is believed to have been occupied during the time when the forced entry was attempted.”

Eleven Lounge along with the Chop Restaurant were closed by Mr. Barlas last week after the city council took action to deny a liquor license.

  1. I bet we haven’t heard the last of this drama. Our own version of The Sopranos……right here in Mason City. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come.

        1. You’re seriously asking that question? Um… hello!! Unless, ya don’t consider tax evasion, murder, and how many FAILED businesses “problems”…. then, nope- no problems there!

          1. And daddy’s troubles in the 70’s when he had cigs hid under the stage and his helper was dumping more in the river out back? And didn’t they get sued in the 80’s too while at Pheasant Run? Pillars of the community….
