DECATUR COUNTY – Three Iowans, including a 3-year-old girl – were killed Wednesday evening after a head-on crash in this southeast Iowa county.
According to a report, two vehicles approached each other at about 5 PM Wednesday on Iowa Highway J-20 when one of the vehicles, driven by 35-year-old Sherissa Goodman of Leon lost control of her 2001 Chevy Lumina and crossed the center line due to poor weather conditions, striking a 2007 Chevy pickup driven by 21-year-old Jeremiah Bowell of Lamoni.
Three persons died in the accident: Sherissa Goodman, 31-year-old Charles Downard, and 3-year-old Shayla Matte. Bowell was injured and hospitalized.
