If 33k is a “sweet gig” then our priorities in what good jobs are in Mason City are way out of whack. I would love to see jobs in the $20.00 plus range, NIACC would gift the farmland to a company or companies around the college in exchange for a 10 year direct partnership with training and education courses for employees at the companies. You pass the courses and program for a certain company, you have a job there. Current workers could go to courses on campus to advance skills, etc.
Remember, in Mason City, $9.50 / hour is amazing. That wage exceeds expectations, Eric Bookmeyer said so.

$9.50 is crazy, and there are people who survive on that. If you look at what a “poor person” has to pay vs a more affluent person, it’s staggering. Laundromats instead of a home washer and dryer, check cashing fees, etc. you can see why we have so many businesses that cater to the person living hour by hour.
Watch this hiring closely, Bookmeyer will have his hand in it. Payback for past favors or future expatitions.
Not a chance.
