WASHINGTON – Speaker of the House John Boehner released the following statement regarding the bipartisan Senate agreement to reopen the federal government and avoid a national default:

“The House has fought with everything it has to convince the president of the United States to engage in bipartisan negotiations aimed at addressing our country’s debt and providing fairness for the American people under ObamaCare. That fight will continue. But blocking the bipartisan agreement reached today by the members of the Senate will not be a tactic for us. In addition to the risk of default, doing so would open the door for the Democratic majority in Washington to raise taxes again on the American people and undo the spending caps in the 2011 Budget Control Act without replacing them with better spending cuts. With our nation’s economy still struggling under years of the president’s policies, raising taxes is not a viable option. Our drive to stop the train wreck that is the president’s health care law will continue. We will rely on aggressive oversight that highlights the law’s massive flaws and smart, targeted strikes that split the legislative coalition the president has relied upon to force his health care law on the American people.”

  1. there all a bunch of selfish retards that didn’t give a rats behind about the impact or affect it had on people i wouldn’t piss on any of them if they were on fire sorry excuse for leader
    s in this country

  2. Boehner if you would have kept the shutdown going there was you best chance of getting Obamacare at minimum held off for a year. But you had to give and you got nothing in return. Very poor leadership you should have completed what you started.

  3. Happy Hollow Weinie! and all other hollow promises the private working sector has been promised – phoooooey – 3rd party where are you?

  4. Obama scare will fold on its own but at least some of our government is willing to fight for what is right rather than rolling over and playing dead with the spend o crats.

  5. Why will he continue to waste millions and billions of dollars trying to overturn a law that has widespread democratic support when the democrats control the senate and white house. Mr. Speaker this is what got us into trouble 2 weeks ago. Isn’t the definition of insane doing the same thing over and over again and but still expecting a different outcome?

    1. which law are you talking about that has widespread democratic support because it sure isn’t obamacare unless you are one of Obama’s sheep.

    2. Well DR what would you do about this ruinous act and Obama’s obvious lack of leadership? They just kicked the can again and the debt continues to rise. The end result will be catastrophic.

      1. I read an article last night about Tom Clancy’s latest book that he was writing, it was about a Manchurian candidate, funny how since he died they cannot say how he died yet someone inside the CIA says he was murdered. I know that this is alittle off topic so sue me.

      2. what would I do about it if I were in congress. I would work on the ACA to make it better. I wouldn’t repeal it…I would keep the good parts (and we all know there are those) and fix what needs fixing. But to advocate repeal without replacing or fixing is wrong. And to spend multi millions on trying to repeal is a major waste of congresses time and the tax payers money. The teaparty’s war on the ACA has been lost. Move on.

        1. @DR Dunn-I am pretty sure that the Republicans said there are parts of Obamacare that they would like to keep. The key is to get them to sit down and talk to each other.

        2. DR – just what parts of Obamacare would you keep? Don’t bother – it cannot be done with the Dems not even willing to talk about it.
Trying to repeal is not a waste of congress’s time, nor a waste of taxpayer’s money. Keeping the damned thing in place is the true waste.
I’m sure by now you’ve heard the stories of those signing up for Obamacare – a family of 5 gets coverage for $6,000 per year, but the deductible is $12,700. So they have to be out of pocket $18,700 per year before any benefit is derived. GREAT PLAN!!!
Oh, by the way, Obama wants to raise taxes to cover the deficit – not cut spending.
          Thanks Obama.
