MASON CITY – The City of Mason City Water Supply Division will be flushing water mains in the Southeast quadrant of the city; the affected area is east of Federal Avenue and south of Hwy 122. Flushing will begin on Monday, September 25th and is expected to continue through Friday, September 29th.
Water customers may notice some discoloration of the water after the mains have been flushed, however, the water is safe to drink. Caution should be used when washing clothing since discolored water may cause staining.
The public is asked not to park near or across from fire hydrants during this time. If citizens have questions, please contact the Water Supply Division at 641-421-3685.
Also, 15th Street SE will be closed to traffic between South Carolina Avenue and South Hampshire Avenue for a period of two days beginning Monday, September 25th.
The closure is necessary for work being performed as part of the High Line Trail Project. The work involves the removal of the former Union Pacific Railroad at-grade crossing, which includes the rails, headers and adjacent street pavement.
If you have any questions, contact the Mason City Engineering Department at (641) 421-3605.
