MASON CITY – Leonard Foster submitted the required paperwork and signatures on a petition this week to become a candidate for the At-Large City Council seat in Mason City currently held by Scott Tornquist.
Leonard Foster is a former city council member. Mr. Foster told NIT Thursday that he served one term after being elected in 2003. He was defeated in an election for Second Ward City Council in 2009.
“I plan to win, I am now an official candidate,” Mr. Foster told NIT.
Mr. Tornquist became an official candidate for re-election a couple of weeks ago when he turned in his documents to City Hall.
The filing deadline is Thursday at 5 PM.

VOTE LEONARD!!!!!!
good luck Lenard i think u would bring a positive and needed change for this town that would benefit all citizens of the community
Good for Leonard. I certainly hope he wins. He has had his faults but I think he is for the average person here in town. Much different than the elitist that is running against him. Get rid of the mayor, Solberg, Hickey and Turncoat and maybe we can get this city back on the right track.
