NIACC women’s cross country ranked No. 11

MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s cross country team is ranked No. 11 in the initial NJCAA poll released this week.

NIACC placed third at the Region XI time trial in Mason City on Aug. 24. The Lady Trojans were fourth at the Mount Mercy Mustang Gallop on Aug. 30.

Freshman Hannah Palmeter (Bessemer, Mich.) has led NIACC in both races. She was fourth at the regional time trial 5-kilometer race in 21 minutes, 23.8 seconds and was third at Mount Mercy in a 4K race (16:36).

Iowa Central is ranked No. 1, Iowa Western is ranked No. 6, DMACC is No. 17 and Southwestern is No. 24.

NIACC returns to action Sept. 14 at the Grinnell College Les Duke Invitational.
Note – Former Mason City prep Nicolle Hewett has joined the NIACC women’s cross country team.
