Police find Tarantino’s stolen red Malibu

VICTORVILLE, Calif., April 28 (UPI) — Police in California said they have found Quentin Tarantino’s Chevelle Malibu, which was stolen in 1994 during the filming of “Pulp Fiction.”

The iconic 1964 cherry red Chevrolet was driven in the film by John Travolta’s character, Vince Vega.

On April 18, Victorville Deputy Carlos Arrieta spotted two men near an elementary school stripping a Chevrolet Malibu, The San Bernardino Sun reported.

Although one of the men insisted the car had been his since the 1970s, Arrieta called the Auto Theft Task Force and handed over the investigation to the district attorney’s senior investigator.

Police reports indicate investigators discovered the car’s VIN number hadn’t been registered with the state Department of Motor Vehicles for decades.

Eventually, police determined the car was Tarantino’s vehicle that was stolen in 1994, the Sun said.

Authorities said the Malibu’s current owner was not involved in the theft and likely was a victim of fraud.

It was not clear if the car was returned to Tarantino, the Sun reported.

The case remains under investigation.
