CHARITON, IOWA – A Knoxville, Iowa man driving a pickup truck in central Iowa near Chariton, Iowa, on Friday night crossed a center line and struck another vehicle, killed all three occupants inside.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, nineteen year-old Garrett Joseph Hollingrake was driving eastbound on Highway 34 just west of Chariton when his Ford F250 truck crossed the center line and struck a Plymouth Neon head-on with three occupants inside.
Olga Letecia Palencia, 56; Doloras Rodas, 66; and Julietta Mendez Cruz, all of Ottumwa, Iowa, died in the accident. Hollingrake was injured and taken to the Lucas County Medical Center for treatment.
Chariton Police, Lucas County Sheriff and the Iowa State Patrol all assisted at the scene.
